Industry veteran Chris Shanahan is to succeed Marc Archambault, who is retiring, as chief executive, Life and Health, at PartnerRe.

Mr Shanahan’s appointment is effective January 1.

Philippe Meyenhofer, the chief executive of PartnerRe, said: “Chris’s deep technical expertise, industry knowledge, and collaborative leadership style make him a valuable addition to our leadership team.”

He added: “I would like to personally acknowledge and thank Marc for his invaluable contributions and the strong foundation he leaves behind, positioning us well for future growth and as a preferred reinsurance partner to our clients.”

Mr Shanahan has more than 30 years of experience in Life reinsurance. He joined PartnerRe in May 2018 from Hannover Re where he had been responsible for Hannover’s US mortality business since 2009.

Previously he held senior leadership, pricing and product management positions with Lincoln Re, ING Re, and Scottish Re.
