PartnerRe has announced the retirement of James Beedle, the chief executive officer of its Asia Pacific unit.

Mr Beedle served in the role for nearly a decade. The Bermudian-based reinsurer has appointed Sasa Hu as its new CEO of property and casualty, Apac.

Ms Hu has more than 20 years of industry experience and has spent most of her career serving at PartnerRe. Most recently, she was the chief underwriting officer (CUO) of P&C for Apac.

Prior to that, Ms Hu was the head of agriculture, senior underwriter, senior pricing actuary, and pricing actuary at PartnerRe. She started her career as an actuary at Allianz Australia.

Following this appointment, David Xu has been named the CUO of P&C, Apac. Most recently, he served as the head of P&C for Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and regional clients.

John Mok has been appointed as the CEO of Partner Reinsurance Asia Pte Ltd. He joined PartnerRe in 2021, and since then has served as the CEO of life and health for Apac and EMELA.

PartnerRe said in a statement attributed to management: “We thank James for his exceptional leadership and for the lasting impact he has made in strengthening PartnerRe’s footprint in Asia. We wish him every success and enjoyment in his well-deserved retirement.”
