Cedar Trace taps Chris Wilson for managing director
Cedar Trace has appointed Chris Wilson as managing director of Cedar Trace Capital Management, its insurance-linked securities and investment management platform.
Mr Wilson, who is based in Bermuda, will support key ILS operational functions while contributing to underwriting, investor relations, fundraising and new product development initiatives. He will also represent Cedar Trace in Bermuda and international ILS markets as the firm expands its platform.
The appointment was announced today by the Bermudian-based reinsurance and asset management group.
Mr Wilson brings more than 20 years of experience in the global reinsurance and ILS sectors. Most recently, he served as senior vice-president, advisory and head of underwriting at Artex Capital Solutions in Bermuda.
Before that, he spent nearly seven years with Artex’s Guernsey operation, where he held roles including head of ILS underwriting and ILS underwriter. Earlier in his career, he spent almost 11 years at Willis Re, serving as a divisional director in the broker’s Japan team, including four years in Tokyo.
Fluent in Japanese, Mr Wilson has extensive experience in the Japanese reinsurance market.
Fergus Reynolds, head of ILS at Cedar Trace, said: “Chris brings a strong combination of market knowledge and execution experience gained over many years in the ILS sector.
“His deep understanding of both the underwriting and operational aspects of the market makes him an excellent fit for Cedar Trace.”
Mr Wilson said he was joining the company at an important stage in its development.
“Cedar Trace has built an impressive platform with a clear vision for the future of ILS investing,” he said.
“I look forward to working to continue enhancing the firm’s operational capabilities, investor offering and market presence.”
The company said it is committed to building an institutional-grade platform providing investors with access to risk-transfer opportunities with strong governance and operational standards.
