Willis Re expands leadership team with two more executives
Willis Re has appointed two senior reinsurance executives from rival broker Guy Carpenter, including a Bermuda-based market veteran, as it continues to expand its leadership team.
The broker announced that Jonathan Ogilvie has been named global head of non-marine specialities, while Chris Dart has been appointed head of treaty reinsurance, Bermuda, with immediate effect.
Mr Dart joins Willis Re after serving as managing director and head of property treaty Bermuda at Guy Carpenter. He brings 23 years of experience in Bermuda and London, specialising in property treaty and retrocession reinsurance solutions for global clients. Earlier in his career, he was a senior broker at John B. Collins & Associates in Bermuda.
Mr Ogilvie, who will be based in London, has more than 20 years of experience across the insurance, reinsurance and retrocession markets in both London and Bermuda. Most recently, he served as head of property retrocession in Bermuda at Guy Carpenter.
The appointments are the latest in a series of high-profile hires by Willis Re from Guy Carpenter following the expiry of court-imposed restrictions stemming from a closely watched recruitment dispute between the rival brokers.
Earlier this week, Willis Re announced the appointments of former Guy Carpenter executives Jim Summers and John Fletcher. A United Kingdom High Court ruling earlier this year cleared the way for a number of planned hires to proceed after a four-month delay.
Lucy Clarke, a board member of Willis Re, said the pair would strengthen the firm's capabilities as it continues to grow.
“Jon and Chris are outstanding additions to Willis Re, bringing extensive technical expertise, market knowledge and leadership experience that will be instrumental as we grow our business,” she said.
Mr Dart said increasingly complex treaty reinsurance programmes require a combination of technical expertise, market insight and creativity.
“It is exciting to be part of a business that places such a strong emphasis on collaboration and delivering the best possible outcomes,” he said.
