Premia Re’s A- rating affirmed by AM Best
AM Best has affirmed Premia Reinsurance’s financial strength rating as A- (excellent) and its long-term issuer credit rating as “a-” (excellent).
The credit ratings agency also gave the firm a stable outlook.
The ratings reflected Premia Re’s balance sheet strength, which AM Best assessed as very strong, its operating performance as adequate, its business profile as neutral and its enterprise risk management as appropriate.
Premia Re’s operating returns deteriorated in 2025, due to adverse development recognised on its casualty business, the ratings agency said.
While the firm did implement further strengthening in 2026, the bottom line results are expected to rebound following multiple strategic sales and closing of new legacy transactions.
AM Best anticipates that the company’s results will continue to show improvement into next year. Further deterioration in the near term could bring negative pressure on the ratings and or outlooks.
