Armetia Apopa, the Bermudian author, has just released a new faith-based, self-help book. The book, Conversations with Self, was launched locally last night at a book signing at Victory Kingdom Centre in Hamilton. A motivational speaker, author and entrepreneur as well as an ordained minister, Ms Apopa sat down with The Royal Gazette to explain the message behind her book and why she feels it will resonate with readers. Ms Apopa said Conversations with Self was a product of the coronavirus pandemic. “Ever since [I was] a little girl, I have always had conversations with myself. Through these conversations God has revealed to me who I was.“During the pandemic my internal questions peaked. Who was I and was I truly fulfilling purpose? Isolated, I utilised journaling and meditation in my search for answers.“These periods of quiet and self-reflection were used by God to reveal more of his plan.”Ms Apopa hopes that readers will begin their own journey of self-reflection as a result of reading her new book. “Changing our self-perception unlocks the door to God’s perfect design for our lives.“Once I discovered these tools to attain personal freedom, I realised that others would also benefit from using them. It was at this point that the book was penned.”“Many people’s faith and sense of purpose have been challenged during this pandemic.“With churches closed and routines disrupted, people have been left alone with themselves. “This isolation has brought them face to face with the grey areas in their lives. The place of unanswered questions.“The principles contained in this book will help members of the faith community to discover their personal truth.”The timing of the release of the book aligns well with some of the emotional and spiritual challenges many faced during the pandemic.Ms Apopa believes this is an opportune time for people to engage in self-reflection. Conversations with Self is part of a trilogy called the Paradigm Experience. It focuses on encounters that shift your faith and develop your authentic self.In book one the reader has a series of conversations with self, that address unresolved childhood trauma, increase self -awareness and embracing your true identity.Utilising the power of journaling and use of affirmations the reader unearths the unknown self.” “In book two, The Truth Unlocked, the reader learns how to access the truth hidden within them and book three, The Power of Synergy, is a guide to building stronger relations that will help us to fulfil purpose.”Ms Apopa wrote the book this year as a part of a writer’s programme, 16 Weeks to Published, created by Bermudian author Letitia Washington, who writes under the pen name “Brooklyn Knight”. Ms Washington launched Brooklyn Knight Enterprises in 2019 and offers a range of services for authors and writers seeking to publish their work. The Sixteen Weeks to Published — The Ultimate Writers’ Workshop” coaches writers from conception to publication and has launched the careers of several local authors. • Armetia Apopa will be available for another book signing today from 11am until 2pm at Victory Kingdom Centre, located at The Atlas Building, 91 Reid Street.
