Restoration House Ministries International is inviting everyone to join them today for their fifth annual 24-hour prayer room.

An online event, it started at midnight and will end at 11.59pm.

The initiative is the brainchild of Eugenia Robinson, the founder of Restoration House Ministries International, who was inspired to create a safe space for believers and non-believers to pray and be prayed for.

The first event was held in May 2017 in collaboration with The Anglican Church of Bermuda; prayers were said in person at The Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity.

A success from the start, it became an annual fixture on the calendar but transformed into a virtual event last year with the onset of the pandemic. It continues this year with sponsorship from The Anglican Church and Dre Ministries.

“We give God praise for The Anglican Church of Bermuda, led by Bishop Nicolas Dill, and Dre Ministries, led by Rev Dr Deborah R. Evans, for embracing this vision with love, support, and direction,” Ms. Robinson said.

“This is our second year of a virtual 24-hour global community room. I like to think of this experience as a global prayer closet as in Mathew 6:6: ‘But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you’.”

The prayer room is being streamed live on Restoration House Ministries International’s Facebook page and interested persons are invited to join at any time during the day to be prayed with and for.

This year’s theme, Rise Up To Light Up The World, is inspired by Matthew 5:14-16 which speaks to believers as being “the light of the world”.

“In previous years we have provided specific prayer points but this year the prayers will come from our prayer partners,” Ms Robinson said. “It was impressed upon my spirit to allow individuals or prayer teams to release the passion and compassion from their hearts to the world. Their prayers will light up the world. The focus is on you, the prayer partner. You are the light of the world!”

In addition to today’s event, she has created a prayer journal to assist people who want to deepen and expand their prayer life and their relationship with God.

Entitled 21 Minutes, 21 Days, it was designed to bring a person’s mind, body and soul into alignment with their life purpose. It was birthed through Ms Robinson’s personal morning routine, which included travelling around the island to watch the sunrise and spend time in prayer.

“It started from a prayer journey to pray in each parish of the island,” she said. “I wrote prayers for the island of Bermuda during my time of early morning prayer. While in place I took pictures. The journal is to encourage us to simply pause for 21 minutes to spend quiet time with God.”

Ms Robinson hosts a 21-day prayer challenge three times a year to support people who read her journal. For details on the next challenge, which will start in August, visit www.eugenialrobinson.com.

Ms Robinson has also created a prayer course, the Restorative Prayer Experience, which includes monthly lessons to help people develop a more confident prayer life.

“Some struggle with prayer. People are unsure if they are praying the ‘right way’, if God hears them, or they just don’t know what to pray for. But the Bible teaches us in 1 John 5:14 to be confident in our prayers. This is the confidence we have in approaching God, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

“Prayer is how we communicate with God. Whether a whisper or a shout, the Bible teaches us that God hears our prayers. The Restorative Prayer Experience is a monthly programme designed to work with you on your prayer journey.”

Restoration House Ministries International celebrated 20 years in 2020 and continues to grow in the community. Most of its work is focused on prayer as Ms Robinson believes it is the key to having an intimate relationship with God and a catalyst for changing the world.

Ms Robinson is live on Facebook every Monday through Friday at 6am during which time she prays with and for her listeners and shares spiritual inspiration.

“Apparently I have a prayer ministry, as someone once put it,” she said.
