Carla's summit helps push women into purpose

Carla George is preparing to host the third annual Pushed Into Purpose Summit.

The event is an extension of the work she began in 2019 with her podcast, Pushed into Purpose. She is also the author of the book Proverbs 31 Woman: More Than The Good Wife.

“The Pushed into Purpose brand reflects my relationship with God. I often find myself venturing into areas that I never had imagined like writing a book, starting a podcast and launching a summit," she said.

“Most times I wondered why me? [I] doubted I could do it, questioned my abilities and had no idea how things would get done. But God would remind me that it wasn’t about me. I had to be obedient and carry out His purpose for my life.”

She continued: “So like an old school parent teaching their child how to swim, God pushed me into the deep end while never allowing me to drown. That has allowed me to live out my purpose, which is to encourage and push other women to be intentional about walking boldly in their God-given purpose.”

Her reason for creating the Pushed into Purpose Summit was to provide a platform where women could come together in a “safe, yet empowering space” and discover their purpose through exposure to women of faith.

“The summit was launched three years ago as a spin off to the Pushed into Purpose podcast,” she said.

The first Pushed into Purpose summit was held virtually in January 2020, just before the coronavirus pandemic outbreak.

“Not many people even knew about Zoom or this concept of connecting online and explaining that to people was a challenge. Now in the third year, women look forward to this annual event and last year we had just under 100 women log on each night for the three days,” she said.

“I try to bring high-energy, relatable speakers so I am constantly researching people in Bermuda and online and the line-up has always been exceptional. Last year we had speakers from the US to Bermuda to Nigeria.”

The theme of this year’s summit is She Understood the Assignment, a play on a trendy phrase.

“This is the first time I have taken a concept from [pop culture] and incorporated it into the summit. The theme 'She Understood the Assignment' has been popular on social media and refers to someone who gives 110 per cent.

“In Year One we learnt about discovering our purpose, in Year Two we had to pivot into purpose and now in Year Three we understand our purpose assignment and are ready to take action.”

The summit will feature a diverse line up of women who will each present on a specific area of expertise: Malisa Butterfield, Alisha Mecene, Charmaine Tucker, Arin Weller, Lakia Brandenburg, Destiny Inspire and Yana Jenay.

“Destiny Inspire is a powerful speaker and will set the stage on the first night reminding us that our assignment is in telling our story. Evangelist Malisa Butterfield is very real in her approach and will be speaking to women over 50, inspiring them to not give up because their assignment is not over.

“Alisha Mecene is a professional counsellor and will address overcoming anxiety and overwhelm when carrying out our assignment. Charmaine Tucker will be transparent about how we can walk in our purpose assignment in our careers.”

She continued: “Arin Weller, of Sacred: Faith Inspired Gifts, will share her journey to entrepreneurship and provide practical tools and advice to help entrepreneurs to intentionally understand their assignment when growing their business.

“Lakia Brandenburg is returning for the third time. She is hilarious yet real as she speaks to us about understanding the assignment in our relationships. Yana Jenay has an awesome singles ministry and will speak on understanding the assignment in singleness.”

Mrs George hopes that through this event women will be able to “see themselves as God sees them” and become unstoppable in their personal pursuits of purpose.

“We are fearfully and wonderfully made, we are strong and courageous, we are worth far more than rubies, we are part of a royal priesthood. This community has been created to remind women about that so they can be empowered to take the steps to live more purposefully in five key areas of their life: faith, relationships, career, entrepreneurship and health and wellness.”

The Pushed into Purpose Summit takes place January 22 to 24. General and VIP access tickets are available for purchase on the Sargasso app and at www.iamcarlageorge.com. For more information: pushedintopurposesummit@gmail.com; @pushedintopurpose_
