Palestinians have persevered through persecution for decades

Pain goes on: Palestinians search for the bodies of the Al-Hor family killed in the Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip in Nusseirat refugee camp early yesterday (Photograph by Adel Hana/AP)

“Do not say regarding those who are slain in the path of God that they are dead; rather they are alive but you are not aware.”Koran 2:154

“Do not consider as dead those who are slain in the path of God; rather they are alive and well provided for in the presence of their Lord.”Koran 3:169

The above verses from the Koran are the consolation of the Muslims. We have faith that those killed in the way of Allah are martyrs and therefore are not dead but with Allah. This is our faith and we hold fast to Allah’s promise as His promise is true.

Beside the fact that what has and continues to occur in Gaza is just plain wrong, this land belongs to the indigenous people who have lived there for centuries, so how can the atrocities that occur be condoned by the powers that be? The oppressors are glorified and justified by the so called humanitarian forces.

In reality, this taking of indigenous people’s lands has been going on for some time, the lands of Africa, India, North America have been taken and rearranged by the world powers. The difference though is that the Palestinians have persevered through persecution for decades, they are not giving in or giving up the ownership of their land, land which is divinely theirs.

The powers that be, have had enough and now think that their plan of total annihilation will finally, once and for all, rid them of the Palestinians who they have labelled as animals.

Therefore, the murder of children and woman is nothing to them. It’s like how we kill a cockroach, with the attitude that the pesky vermin will bother us no more. However, as the Koran says: “But they plan, and Allah plans. And Allah is the best of planners.” – [Surah Al-Anfal | Ayah 30]

The Muslims believe that the land they refer to as Palestine is the Holy Land, which Allah has blessed for humanity. It is the Muslims’ first Qiblah and the destination of the journey performed at night by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). It is the location from where he ascended to the upper heavens. Besides, the land they call Palestine is home to one of the sacred sites in Islam, the Masjid Al-Aqsa, the third holiest site in Islam.

It is appalling that the ceasefire was only for four days! What wickedness is this and how can it be allowed?

We ask Allah (SWT) to accept all our prayers and Dua’s as we pray for Gaza and all those suffering around the world – Ameen.

Bermuda, the struggle continues so keep enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong.

As salaam alaikum (peace be unto you).

In last week’s article there was an error: Job, not Jonah, is the Biblical name for Prophet Ayyub (AS).
