Bermuda in final after beating Mexico

Bermuda beat Mexico 26-7 on Sunday in Mexico City to advance to the final of the Caribbean Rugby Championships. The Islanders made a few changes to the team that had beaten Bahamas 13-10 at home last month, with veterans Chris Naylor and Greg Garside returning to the starting line-up and Scott Cobon and Aldo Campbell making their debuts.Bermuda’s stronger and more disciplined forward pack dominated the game from the start, winning three penalties early on, which were calmly kicked over by Greg Fraser. The visitors kept up the pressure, retaining possession for long periods and scored a try when forward Allan Steynor forced his way over the line. Fraser kicked the conversion and a further penalty. In the second half, Garside added another try for Bermuda which Fraser converted.Mexico rallied late and scored a consolation try but Bermuda ran out comfortable winners.Bermuda will have to wait on the outcome between Guyana and Barbados to see who they will meet in the final. That match must be played by July 7.
