A Bermuda Select team won the Bowl Final of the Monmouth 7s in New Jersey on Saturday.

The side won three games and lost twice in the tournament at Monmouth Rugby Club.

Bermuda started with a comfortable 34-0 win over Old Blue 3, with Tommy Edwards, the captain, scoring two tries, while Dan Cole, Tashon DeSilva, Patrick Calow and Nick Pell also crossed, with David Lunn kicking two conversions.

Old Blue 2 proved to be a tougher proposition, however, and they won 35-7 with Calow’s try and Lunn’s conversion the only points Bermuda had to show for their efforts.

A second defeat, this time to NYRC, sent Bermuda into the Bowl competition where they narrowly beat Village Lions 24-22, with Tom Healy, Lunn, Calow and Rich Cumbers scoring tries and Lunn’s two conversions ultimately making the difference.

In the Bowl Final, Bermuda raced to another convincing win, this time beating Long Island 29-0. Healy bagged two tries, Lunn again kicked two conversions, and there were also scores for DeSilva, Edwards and Somers Brewin.
