Italians share knowledge with youngsters

Drills and skills: members of the Rugby Italian Classic XV shared their expertise with youngsters from the Beyond Rugby Youth Programme at Police Field. Italy reached the Plate semi-final of the World Rugby Classic

Five members of the Italian Rugby Classic XV took part in a Beyond Rugby Youth Programme coaching session at Police Field before the start of the World Rugby Classic.

Scott Palmer, Quintin Geldenhuys, Marco Neethling, Matthew Bresson, Andrew Glen, and Mike Denbee put the enthusiastic youngsters through their paces with a series of skills and drills during the session.

The Italian side reached the Plate semi-finals, losing to 16-15 to eventual winners USA Classic Eagles last Thursday.

Stefania Di Meglio, the Italian team liaison, said the team were keen to give back to the community by showing their support for Beyond Rugby.

“We approached Patrick Calow of Bermuda Rugby to see if they would be interested in having the guys come down to help with the training,” she said.

“The players had a great time and were really excited to help out. I think the children had a great time as well.”
