Berkeley complete unbeaten campaign

The Berkeley Institute Beyond Rugby team ended their season unbeaten after prevailing in the Ariel Re High School League Finals at North Field.

Having beaten each of their four rivals, Saltus Grammar School, CedarBridge Academy and a combined Bermuda Institute/Warwick Academy team, in the Ariel Re High School League this year, Berkeley lived up to their favourites' tag by overcoming the league's second-placed team, Saltus, in the semi-finals.

That set up a final encounter against CedarBridge Academy's Beyond Rugby team, who managed to beat Bermuda Institute/Warwick Academy in the other semi-final.

The final proved a close encounter, with the scores level at 12-12 heading into the dying seconds, before Berkeley found a last-gasp score to win 19-12.

Cairi Albouy, the Berkeley captain, accepted the trophy on behalf of his team.

Meanwhile, Berkeley, along with all other girls' and boys' middle school and high school teams will showcase their skills in the Beyond Rugby Championship Tournament at the North Field from 4pm tomorrow.
