Four Bermuda triathletes made their mark at Ironman events in the United States and France this past weekend.

Nicky Hallett, Will Green and Pauline Green raced at the Precision Fuel & Hydration Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Nice, France, while Marie-lyne Dore competed at Ironman Wisconsin in Madison.

Will Green clocked 5hr 53min 20sec, Hallett’s time was 07:25:23 and Pauline Green finished in 07:48:12.

Dore, with a time of 10:19:28, was the first female in the 40-44 age group, second overall female and 42nd of 1,475 competitors.

“I wanted to win the race but I had issues with my nutrition,” Dore said.

“I’m happy the winner was a local, Leah Winckler, a former NCAA Division 1 swimmer who is eleven years younger than me.”

“People have seen me training the whole summer and it’s nice to see that it paid off. I would like to say thank you to my employer, D & J construction, they allow me to train at lunch time and flexible hours and it has been really helpful.”

Dore’s finish secured her a spot at the 2027 Salomon Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, to be held in October. Last year, Dore and Ashley Couper achieved impressive finishes in Hawaii.

“I qualified again for the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii for 2027,” the 42-year-old said.

“Only the age group winner had an automatic qualification slot. The world championship is back in only one day instead of two days.

“It’s more difficult to qualify now. I want to go back and get a podium in my age group, if I do that, I might as well retire.”
