Argo Group Gold Cup semis abandoned
Light and shifty wind forced the race committee to abandon today's Argo Group Gold Cup semi-finals in Hamilton Harbour.
Proceedings came to a grinding halt with only one of the five scheduled flights being completed.
Two-time Gold Cup winner Ben Ainslie (Ben Ainslie Racing Team) leads his semi-final series (first to three wins) 1-0 over past world match racing champion Adam Minoprio (Team Alpari FX).
Francesco Bruni (Luna Rossa) leads defending Gold Cup champ Taylor Canfield (USone Sailing) by the same margin in the remaining semi-final.
Today's unsuitable conditions also brought RenaissanceRe Junior Gold Cup racing to an early end in the Great Sound.
Provisional results show Aussie sailor Max Quirk holding an eight-point lead over nearest rival Milo Gill Taylor (Britain) on the leaderboard.
Campbell Patton (sixth) leads the local fleet followed by Adam Larson (14th) and Mike Wollmann (16th).
