American SailGP boat capsizes during practice

First Prev 1 2 Next Last

The American Sail GP team had the worst possible start to the weekend when they capsized during their training session on Friday.

Crew members fell more than ten feet as they desperately attempted to cling to the upturned boat.

The moment the US team capsized

The incident unfolded in the third practice race of the day, when the top of the wing looked to invert the wrong way.

The USA F50 immediately flipped over, just missing the nearby teams of Emirates GBR and New Zealand. All athletes are accounted for and safe with the damage to the F50 still being assessed.
