Fitted dinghy season is reaching the halfway point with all the boats still in fierce competition.

Boats competing this season include Challenger II of Sandys Boat Club; Contest III of Royal Bermuda Yacht Club; Elizabeth II of Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club; and Victory IV of the Victory Syndicate, St George’s Dinghy and Sports Club.

With 12 races completed and 14 remaining, Contest III leads the standings on 37.75 points, ahead of Victory IV (27.75), Challenger II (26.25) and Elizabeth II (23.25)

Races take place from noon to 3pm every other Sunday and the 2026 schedule can be found here.

On the last race day, Contest III, helmed by Geo Hayward, won one of the oldest cups in sports, the Whitney Cup. This cup was given to RHADC in 1883 to mark the occasion of the club receiving royal patronage.

The next race day will be held on Sunday in Mangrove Bay. Three points races will be held as well as the race for the Leatrice Oatley Trophy, which is contested by all-women crews to encourage female participation.

Supporters are encouraged to watch the racing from Watford Bridge or on the water. Individuals interested in sailing fitted dinghies are encouraged to reach out to any of the racing clubs for further information.
