Peniston: Win will get us back into title race

Dandy Town midfielder Jared Peniston has called on his team to use their win over leaders North Village as a springboard to get themselves back into the thick of the Premier Division title race when they tackle Boulevard tomorrow at St. John’s Field. With the win, Hornets moved within four points of Village and blew the title race wide open.PHC are in second, two points behind Village and play Devonshire Cougars tonight at the ‘Den’.For Peniston, however, it is back to the office as they prepare to continue applying pressure on those above them.“It was a good victory for us and the league,” said Peniston. “It makes the league more exciting and interesting, and the victory over Village has giving us more confidence and hope to want the league more.“It was a must win for Town if we wanted to stay in the hunt for the title.“If we wouldn’t have won we could have kissed the league good bye.”Facing a Boulevard side that is looking to cause an upset and stir things up a bit won’t be an easy task. But Peniston is confident that the side has what it takes to close the gap at the top, while also make a sustained run at the FA Cup as well.“The mind frame of the team, the committee and fans is to win the FA and league, but it’s one game at a time and we need to stay humble. It’s going to take a lot fight and heart to accomplish what we want.“Boulevard aren’t any push overs, and if we want to continue to stay in the hunt every game for Town is a must win game. “Elsewhere in the league tomorrow, Village travel to Southampton Oval to take on Southampton Rangers knowing they must win to keep hold of the top spot, while the hosts need a win to move clear of the relegation battle. The eastern derby will also take centre stage as St. David’s go across the water to Wellington Oval looking to exact revenge on their first derby loss in the first half of the season. The day remaining game will see a relegation six pointer when Somerset Eagles lock horns with Devonshire Colts at Police Field.
