Boyles appointed head coach

Devarr Boyles has been confirmed as the new head coach of the Bermuda national team for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.Boyles, the Bermuda Football Association (BFA) youth director, will be assisted by National Academy coaches Scott Morton, Gary Darrell and Maurice Lowe as well as Devonshire Cougars’ boss Dennis Brown.Mark Wade, BFA player development committee chairman, said Boyles’ experience at both the domestic and national level made him the right man for the job.“We felt Devarr was the right man for the job in terms of leading the ship,” he said. “Devarr has helped set up our National Academy and create the Bermuda national team game-style. Obviously he’ll have the support of the other National Academy coaches.”Boyles captured the Premier Division title, the Martonmere Cup, FA Cup, Dudley Eve, Friendship Trophy and Charity Cup during a six-year stint at St. John's Field. Wade said he felt Brown would be the perfect foil for Boyles and believed the BFA had assembled a winning coaching team.“Dennis will be in and around and I think we’ve put together a good team and we expect good things,” said Wade. “Dennis had been involved in the game for many years and we approached him to see if he was willing and able and thankfully he is.“His time will be limited as he’s coaching at Cougars and the Bermuda Brazilian Football School, but we will looking outside that as well.“We will be approaching a couple of other coaches as well but they will remain nameless. We’re a small footballing country and we need all of the help we can get.”The BFA have drawn up a shortlist of around 40 players to be involved in the qualifiers, with Wade saying he was delighted with the initial feedback he’d received from the players. The national team is due to start training next week.“We wanted to reach out to the players first and talk to them about what the plans were and the response had been great. There are players not included in this list which have expressed an interest as well,” said Wade.”“The team is due to start training next week and we will be meeting with all of our coaches next week.” Bermuda will have to top a group that includes Trinidad, Barbados and Guyana to advance to the semi-final of the region’s qualifiers.Bermuda’s Group B fixturesTrinidad (a) September 2Guyana (h) September 6Trinidad (h) October 7Guyana (a) October 11Barbados (h) November 11-Barbados (a) November 15Bermuda’s confirmed players:Jason Williams North VillageJamal Swan Dandt TownLashun Dill North VillageChris Caisey Devonshire CougarsSammy DeGraff North VillageJemeiko Jennings North VillageDamon Ming Dandy TownJohn Barry Nusum WolvesTyrell Burgess North VillageDaniel Johnson Dandy TownLozendro Symonds Devonshire ColtsKwame Steede Devonshire CougarsAntwan Russell PHCDomico Coddington Devonshire CougarsKayia Darrell Hamilton ParishKamen Tucker Dandy TownSeion Darrell Dandy TownJesse Seymour Devonshire CougarsFreddy Hall Nothampton TownTroy Tucker Somerset EaglesReggie Lambe UnattachedKhano Smith UnattachedDarius Cox Devonshire CougarsMarquel Waldron PHCRoger Lee Somerset EaglesReiko Trott BoulevardTahj Bell Somerset EaglesTaurean Manders Ottawa CityZeiko Lewis PHCMikkail Crockwell Dandy TownAngelo Simmons Carshalton AthleticQuadir Maynard Bromley FCKeishen Bean North Village
