Wells is an inspiration to us all Weeks

Western Stars Sports Club vice-president and PLP MP Michael Weeks says Nahki Wells is an “inspiration to the community”.Bradford City striker Wells became only the third Bermudian to play at Wembley Stadium during his team’s humbling 5-0 loss to Swansea in Sunday’s Capital One Cup final.“Nahki is a real inspiration to our community,” Weeks told The Royal Gazette. “With the violence and road deaths of so many of our young men it is a pleasure to be focused on one of our own in such a positive light and truly serves as a beacon to our aspiring student athletes.”Weeks was among the local football fans that attended Sunday’s match to show their support for Wells who played 57 minutes before being substituted.“The Bermuda contingent which numbered about 40 were very vocal during the game,” he noted. “Wembley is truly a magnificent stadium and awe inspiring and it was simply fantastic to cheer among 82,000-plus fans.“For many it was our first time there and it was very cold but it didn’t matter because we were there to support Nahki.“He didn’t get much play because of Bradford’s tactics and Swansea’s speed but we waved our flags and blew our horns with pride. And even though Bradford lost we had a party after the game.”
