Rams claim top spot after beating Zebras

Reigning champions North Village Rams took over top spot in the Women’s Futsal League at the weekend.Rams edged previous leaders PHC Zebras 7-6 in a match that could’ve gone either way at Dellwood Middle School.The champions prevailed on goals from Leilanni Nesbeth and Kyla Ramatar who each netted braces while Whitnae Duerr, Leanne Yates and Tamisha Darrell were also on target.Micah Pond scored a hat-trick, Keunna Dill added a brace and Aaliyah Nolan scored one in a losing cause for Zebras who slumped to their second loss of the season.Rams trailed Zebras 4-3 at the break but outscored their rivals in the second half to come away with maximum pointsThe outcome enabled Rams to go three points clear at the top of the table.Zebras dropped to second level on points with third placed Somerset Trojans who they lead on goal difference.Trojans kept their own title hopes alive after recording a 4-0 shutout win against bottom side Hamilton Parish.Sierra Fisher, Dazhja Greaves, Ember Butterfield and Kyra Butterfield accounted for Trojans goals.Saturday’s remaining match saw Dandy Stars Brown outscore Young Men’s Social Club 8-4.Zara Gibbons netted a hat-trick, Jahziyah and Jada Samuels added braces while Cally Blankendal also got her name on the scoresheet for fifth placed Dandy Stars Brown.Sixth placed Social Club replied through a Zekiah Lewis brace and sole tallies from KyAnne Scott-Fishenden and Debora Menezes.Fourth placed Dandy Stars Gold had a bye.Women’s Futsal League action continues on Saturday at Dellwood Middle School Gym, beginning at 5pm.
