England ‘C’ to tour the Island

Bermuda Football Association (BFA) today revealed that England 'C' will tour the Island in June to face the senior national squad in a one off match at the National Sports Centre (NSC).

BFA president Larry Mussenden made the announcement during a press conference at his association's headquarters.

The match will be held June 4 with kick off slated for 7:30pm.

Mussenden said the BFA were aproached by the English FA who are keen to play against Bermuda.

He noted that the England 'C' squad is made up of elite players, the vast majority of which are full-time professionals.

England 'C' are managed by Paul Fairclough who also serves a director of football at League Two side Barnet.

The match will serve as an ideal warm up for the senior national squad who are currently preparing for July's Island Games.

Meanwhile, the BFA also announced that the National Academy Under 14 and Under 16 will travel to Alabama to participate in the The Open Cup tournament in Decatur from April 12-14.

The tournament is a college showcase featuring 240 teams from many US states and international teams.

The event will be held at the Jack Allen Soccer Complex.

An invitation to compete at the tournament was extended by tournament director and organiser Scott Spencer to BFA National Academy Director Richard Todd.
