Futsal tourney set for Saturday

The second annual Youth Futsal League will commence at Dellwood Middle School Gym on Saturday.The league will feature players who will showcase their budding talents in three age groups (Under-10, Under-12 and Under-14) with matches to begin at 9.30am.This year has seen a spike in player participation that has increased from 100 last year to 170 players for the upcoming season.Admission is free while members of the public have been invited to bring their families to the game and support their favourite teams and players in an enjoyable, family oriented environment.League president Peter Sousa said: “The Bermuda Futsal Federation wishes to extend its sincere appreciation to the Bermuda Football Association and Dellwood Middle School for continuing its partnership with the BFF in the development of youth futsal in Bermuda.”For further details contact 595 8787 or e-mail bdafutsal@yahoo.com.Last weekend saw Bermuda Futsal Federation stage the Women’s All-Star Game at Bermuda College Gym where West cruised to a comfortable 14-7 victory.North Village Rams’ Leilanni Nesbeth was chosen as All-Star MVP.Following the All-Star match featuring the best talent on the Island awards were also presented to Cleshaunay Darrell Virgil (Dandy Stars Gold) who topped the Women’s Futsal League scoring charts this past season and league MVP Zara Gibbons (Dandy Stars Brown). Newly-crowned Women’s Futsal League champions PHC Zebras were also presented with the League Cup.Bermuda Football Association (BFA) president Larry Mussenden, BFA player development committee chairman Mark Wade and FIFA representative Angenie Kanhai were among those on hand to present the various awards.
