Island U-12 footballers thrash Danes

Bermuda Brazilian Football School’s Under-12 team played their first game in the Dana Cup tournament in Denmark yesterday, thrashing EB Streymur of the Faroe Islands 10-0.BBFS took control of the match after 10 minutes and opened the scoring through Rahzir Smith-Jones. Two more goals were added in the first half by Richard (Reese) Jones Jr and Christen Lugo.Things got even better for the young Bermudians in the second half as they netted seven more goals, Smith Jones scoringt wo more to complete his hat-trick. Erik Correia netted twice and Jarryd Richardson, Diione Millett and Khyree Hollis all scored one apiece.BBFS had another convincing win in their second game when they beat TarsUglit IF Blue from Denmark 6-1.BBFS went ahead after just 10 seconds when Lugo pounced on a poor back pass. This was followed by goals from Correia and Smith-Jones.TarsUglit hit back early in the second half to make it 3-1 but BBFS went on to score three more through Hollis, Correia and another by Rahzir.BBFS arrived in Denmark on the weekend after a 32-hour journey via Boston and Amsterdam. The final leg by train was a six-hour journey to Hjorring. The group were met at the airport by Arne (Ernie) Thomsen, a former Bermuda resident who helped arrange BBFS’s participation in the tournament.Since then the Bermuda players have enjoyed meeting other players from Poland, Norway, USA and Portugal.After a day of rest, the Bermuda team boys played a friendly match against ILF from Norway and won 3-0 with goals from Smith-Jones, San-Tze Burgess and Richardson.
