BBFS finish third at Danish tourney

Bermuda Brazilian Football School (BBFS) finished third at Vildbjerg Cup in Denmark — Europe’s fourth largest youth tournament. The BBFS under-12s, who were up against players a year older, drew 0-0 with Danish side Hong GF but won the game 3-2 on corners.CEO of BBFS, Cal Blankendal, said the team were determined the bounce back after losing 4-1 to Slanglelse B2 in the semi-finals at the weekend.“After having been beaten by the eventual tournament winners, the team held a tactical meeting,” he said.“In the meeting the players and coach spoke frankly and decided that we would not return to Bermuda without a medal or trophy.“The decided to do whatever was necessary to win the match. After 20 games in the previous 14 days the team was tired but showed great mental strength to win the match.”He added: “Both BBFS and Hong GF had chances to score but the woodwork, keepers and defenders thwarted the attackers.”Blankendal said the BBFS tour of Denmark had been a great experience for their young players.“The boys had to adapt to the technical play of European teams, tactical styles and the more stringent manner officiating by Danish referees.”
