Bascome inspires Bermuda to victory

Bermuda 1 Bahamas 0Osagi Bascome produced another man of the match display as Bermuda recorded their second straight victory at the inaugural Concacaf Under-15 Championships in the Cayman Islands on Thursday.Bascome scored the game’s only goal to earn Bermuda a 1-0 victory over Bahamas in warm and overcast conditions at the Ed Bush Stadium, tapping in Jai-Zel Smith- DeShields precision cross in the middle midway through the first half to break the deadlock.Bermuda dominated possession for long spells but in the end only had one goal to show for their effort.Ahria Simons had a shot cleared off the line, Knory Scott dragged a shot wide after being out through while Jecoa Thomas had a goal disallowed in second half injury time.Bermuda got off to a shaky start but eventually settled down and moved the ball nicely around the pitch with a fluent passing game while Bahamas relied heavily on the counter attack.Bahamas caused some anxiety in Bermuda’s defence with their pace and were unlucky not to have grabbed a late equaliser to earn a share of the spoils after their opponents spurned more chances to increase their lead in the second half.Bermuda will now face hosts Cayman Islands in their next match at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex where they thrashed US Virgin Islands 8-0 earlier this week.Bermuda: Yanai Smith-Davis, Ahria Simons, Jordan Lambe, Amar Lewis, Oneko Lowe, Jason Symonds, Jai-Zel Smith-Deshields, Jacob Greene (Aaron Burgess), Justin Bell (Quinn Outerbridge), Knory Scott (Jecoa Thomas), Osagi Bascome.
