Wells nets again

In form: Nahki Wells

By Lawrence TrottBermudian striker Nahki Wells returned to his scoring ways as Bradford kept up their impressive home form with a 4-0 win over ten-man Brentford on Saturday. After Brentford goalkeeper David Button was sent off after 25 minutes when he raced to the edge of the penalty area and brought down Wells with a reckless two-footed challenge, Bradford seized the advantage to go on to maintain their 100 per cent home record with an impressive performance. The hosts took advantage by going in front four minutes before the break through striker James Hanson when winger Kyel Reid played the ball down the left to James Meredith and the full back cut the ball back into the middle where Hanson scored from 12 yards.Wells added the second on the hour mark following a long clearance from keeper Jon McLaughlin, his sixth league goal of the season and seventh overall. Defender Tony Craig tried to head back to substitute ‘keeper Jack Bonham but sent the ball over the head of Bonham and Wells followed up to tap the ball into the empty net.Garry Thompson scored the third four minutes later with a powerful header from Reid’s left-wing cross and Hanson scored his second and Bradford’s fourth with a header at the far post from Reid’s inswinging corner.Wells was replaced by Alan Connell and went off to a standing ovation from the home crowd of 13,621.The win moved Bradford up to fifth in League One, four points behind leaders Leyton Orient.
