Youth tourney to be held at Dellwood
Bermuda's youth footballers will get the opportunity to showcase their budding talents during Bermuda Futsal Federation's (BFF) second annual Youth Futsal Cup Competition later this month.
The tournament, open to all of the Island's clubs and youth organisations, will take place at Dellwood Middle School on September 28 and October 5.
The event will feature four age groups (Under-16, Under-14, Under-12, Under-10) with the players age to be determined as of January 1, 2013.
Players will be permitted to compete in various age groups but not in a younger age group while players below the age of seven will not be allowed to participate without the BFF's approval.
Participating teams must have a minimum of eight registered male or female players on their roster.
Players must wear either regular sneakers or indoor futsal shoes along with shin pads and long socks that cover the pads.
There will be unlimited substitutions with players allowed to re-enter the game unless they have received a red card or have been sent out of the game for cooling off. If a player becomes too aggressive they can be sent off the court for a five-minute period to cool off in lieu of a red or yellow card.
Duration of matches will vary depending on the age group with each team permitted a one-minute time out in each half.
If a game is tied after regulation time, penalties will be taken to determine the outcome. If teams remain tied after taking their allotted five penalties then one additional penalty will be taken until there is a winner. A player cannot take a second penalty until all of his team-mates have taken a penalty kick.
Registration cost for each team is $50.
Those interested can collect registration forms and tournament rules at Bermuda Football Association (BFA) headquarters or online at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Registration deadline is September 25. All completed registration forms with payment (cheques payable to the Bermuda Futsal Federation) should be submitted to the BFA Office.
