Three players ejected in First Division brawl

Three players sent off for their alleged involvement in a nasty brawl that marred Saturday night’s First Division match involving Robin Hood and Devonshire Colts at Goose Gosling Field could be facing further punishment.

According to observers, the match, that ended in a 1-1 stalemate, was delayed several minutes in the second-half after an altercation flared resulting with the dismissal of two Colts players and one from hosts Robin Hood.

It’s alleged that two of the players sent off were involved in another altercation off the field.

There were no reports of injury.

Bermuda Football Association (BFA) vice-president Cal Blankendal said the association will review the official match reports to determine whether or not to impose further sanctions on the trio.

“Once all reports from the match commissioner and referee are reviewed the matter will be put forward to the disciplinary committee if it’s deemed fit to do so,” he told The Royal Gazette.

“The disciplinary committee is the group that will be charged with dealing with this matter based on the reports which they receive.

“We haven’t received a report yet. But I’m quite certain that by 9am Monday (today) a report of what actually took place will be submitted by the referee and match commissioner.

“Even though this seems to be a serious issue the majority of the games that have taken place (this season) have been played in good spirit and fair play.

“And outside of this incident I haven’t received any other major reports of concern.”
