Zebras on target to retain title

PHC Zebras, the runaway Women’s Futsal League leaders, remained firmly on course to defend their title after cruising to a comfortable win against Young Men’s Social Club at Warwick Academy at the weekend.

Unbeaten PHC, who have yet to drop a point this season, dominated proceedings throughout before coming away with a lopsided 9-2 victory.

Micah Pond led the charge for the winners with four goals, Jessica Furtado added three while Taznae Fubler bagged a brace.

KyAnne Scott-Fisherden grabbed both goals for Social Club.

Elsewhere, Dandy Stars defeated Somerset 7-5 in what proved to be the day’s most entertaining match.

The two rivals were deadlocked at 4-4 at the interval before Stars stepped up their game and pulled away when play resumed.

Cleshaunay Darrell-Virgil led the way for Stars in the scoring department with a hat-trick, Kyla Ramatar struck a double salvo while Kashintae Fox and Nia Christopher chipped in with one apiece.

Shauntae Todd, the Bermuda striker, scored four goals for Somerset while Eva Frazzoni grabbed the other for the losing side.

In the remaining match, Footy Force Stars romped to a 11-1 win over Hamilton Parish Hot Peppers.

Zara Gibbons and Cheyra Bell netted hat-tricks for Footy Force, with Leah Smith and Danielle Foote getting two goals each, while Jahzyiah Samuels also got in on the scoring act.

Karen deChabert replied for the Hot Peppers, who trailed 6-1 at the half.
