Nacho Garrido, adviser to the England futsal team, was recently in Bermuda to spread his wealth of expertise.

The Spaniard hosted the Tiki-Taka Futsal Clinic, involving 50 boys and girls, which concluded at Bermuda College Gym last Sunday.

The clinic placed emphasis on fundamentals such as passing, possession and movement.

Summing up the experience, Garrido, who is also the head coach of Murcia Cadete futsal team, said: “It was a great experience with the clinic and I was very surprised positively with the work made in the last two years by Footy Force and Footy Promotions. The age groups worked hard and with a very good attitude, especially the younger ones.

“I was very happy with their level and passion for the game. It is very grateful for me to see how futsal is developing in Bermuda.

“I would like to thank Footy Promotions and the coaching staff, the Department of Youth, Sport and Recreation and also to the Bermuda Futsal Federation.”

Garrido also hosted a futsal clinic at Mount Saint Agnes during his visit.

Meanwhile, futsal is set to return to Dellwood Middle School Gym. The Bermuda Futsal Federation will be staging a summer youth tournament at Dellwood from June 7 to 28.

Matches involving players at the under-ten, under-12 and under-14 levels will be played every Saturday, starting at 9am. Clubs and other youth organisations have been invited to participate for a registration fee of $100.

Interested persons can collect registration forms and rules at the Bermuda Football Association or via the BFF at bdafutsal@yahoo.com.
