Wade steps down as PHC vice-president

Still coach: PHC's Wade

Mark Wade has resigned as the vice-president of Pembroke Hamilton Club.

Wade, who opted not to seek re-election, will continue to serve as the head coach of PHC’s Premier Division team.

PHC are unbeaten after four games this season and are top of the league standings.

Also stepping down at this week’s annual general meeting, which was held at TN Tatem School, was Dorinda Smith, the club’s secretary.

Wade was replaced by Michael Trott, his former Zebras team-mate, while Smith was succeeded by Joy Eve.

Both Wade and Trott declined to comment.

Wade and Smith were elected as senior executives during Chris Furbert’s lengthy stint as PHC president, opting to continue serving in their roles after the Bermuda Industrial Union president lost to Johnny Ball in a close election for the top post at last year’s AGM.

Ball, who plays for the PHC’s first team as a defender, is the youngest president in the club’s history.

During his presidency, Ball hopes to see the construction of a multipurpose facility — which is years behind schedule — at PHC’s Stadium Lane in Warwick.

PHC’s old clubhouse was demolished more than a decade ago.

In the short-term, Ball is hopeful that the club’s ground, which has been out of action for many years, will be able to host Premier Division games later this season.
