Goater makes PHC pay for penalty miss
Tomiko Goater plundered a second-half hat-trick to help red-hot Dandy Town Hornets to a comfortable victory over PHC Zebras at St John’s in the Premier Division yesterday.
Hornets, who thrashed Robin Hood 5-1 on Thursday, have now scored nine goals in their first two league games of season with Goater helping himself to four of them.
Dominique Williams, Town’s elegant defender, scored Hornets other goal with a splendid 30-yard free kick.
Neither side had too many chances in the first half, with Casey Castle, the PHC winger, going closest with a blistering shot that had to be tipped over the bar by Mikkail Crockwell.
It proved to be one of the few decent shots on goal Zebras had all afternoon.
After the break, Hornets took complete control, with PHC powerless to stop them. Goater opened the scoring in the 52nd minute when Damon Ming floated in a free kick from deep that the attacking midfielder rose, unmarked, to head home.
A minute later, PHC were handed a chance to draw level after being awarded a penalty, but Cecoy Robinson, the PHC captain, ballooned his effort well over Crockwell’s bar.
Robinson’s miss visibly deflated PHC who, up to until that point, were still in the game.
Hornets struck again in the 65th minute when Williams fired a free kick past Daniel Johnson, the PHC goalkeeper.
Goater struck twice more in the final 20 minutes, including a last minute penalty to complete his hat-trick.
