Bermuda go down again in Puerto Rico

Bermuda suffered another setback in the Caribbean Football Union Under-17 Championships after losing 2-0 against group hosts Puerto Rico yesterday.

The women’s team finished bottom of group A, having also lost 1-0 to Cuba last Friday and 5-1 against Jamaica on Sunday.

Bermuda once again had several scoring chances but continually failed to find the finishing touch.

Puerto Rico took the lead midway through the first half when their main threat Angela Diaz was brought down in the box.

Diaz then dusted herself off to score the ensuing spot kick with a low finish beyond the impressive goalkeeper Micah Pond.

Early in the second half Bermuda striker Nia Christopher missed three good opportunities in the space of five minutes, before Diaz netted after outpacing the Bermuda defence and finishing past Pond.
