School pride is on the line

Titles on the line: Primary School, Middle School and Senior School teams will battle it out at the National Sports Centre

A total of 20 matches will be played over the next two days to determine the Bermuda School Sports Federation’s Knock Out football champions in eight divisions.

All of the matches will be played at the National Sports Centre, North Field, and the BFA Field, and entry is free to the general public

The matches get under way at 2.30pm tomorrow with the Primary School girls and the Middle School Under-13 boys semi-finals. Bermuda High School are looking to defend their Primary School girls title, and will take on West End Primary, the 2015 six-a-side champions.

Either BHS or West End will taste defeat for the first time this season after going undefeated in winning their respective zones.

The other semi-final will feature Elliot Primary against the winner of Saltus Grammar School and Dalton E Tucker. Elliot are also undefeated.

Saltus Grammar and Whitney Institute highlight the under-13 semi-finals. Both teams finished the season undefeated, after their 1-1 draw towards the end of the season.

Dellwood Middle School, the defending champions, and Sandys Secondary Middle School will both be looking to pull off an upset to earn a spot in Saturday’s final.

Saltus will face Sandys in the semi-final, having defeated T N Tatem 6-1 in the quarter-finals, while Sandys edged past Somersfield Academy on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Whitney disposed of Clearwater Middle School 5-0 in their quarter-final, and will face Dellwood who beat Warwick Academy 3-2.

Tomorrow’s 4pm matches will feature the Middle School girls and over-13 boys semi-finals. Saltus Grammar, the three-time defending champions, have drawn a talented Whitney Institute in the semi-final, after both enjoyed comfortable 3-0 wins in their quarter-finals.

Saltus beat Clearwater Middle School, while Whitney beat Sandys. T N Tatem, the undefeated league champions, will square off against BHS in the other semi-final. Tatem will look to add the KO Cup to the league and six-a-side championship titles.

They take on a BHS side who defeated Warwick academy 2-0 in the quarter-finals.

Whitney Institute, the undefeated league and six-a-side champions, look to continue their dominance in the age group when they tackle Sandys Secondary Middle school in the semi-final. Whitney had a bye into the semis, while Sandys defeated Dellwood 3-0.

Saltus will take on T N Tatem, the defending champions, in the other semi-final. Saltus narrowly beat Warwick Academy 3-2, while T N Tatem beat Clearwater.

The Primary School boys will square off at 5.30pm, as well as the Senior School girls.

Somersfield Academy, the defending champions, will take on St. George’s Preparatory for the second year running in the Primary School boys semi-final. Both teams finished their zones undefeated and will be keen to lift the trophy.

St George’s had defeated East Central zone runners-up Elliot Primary 4-3 in the quarter-finals, while Somersfield Academy edged past East runners-up Harrington Sound 3-2 in another tightly contested match.

The other two semi-finals were not as close, with Saltus, the West Central undefeated champions, hammering Dalton E. Tucker 5-0.

West Pembroke beat Somerset Primary 6-0 in the other quarter-final. West Pembroke will look to avenge a 3-0 league defeat when they take on Saltus in the semi-final.

Berkeley Institute and CedarBridge Academy will be favourites to advance to the final in the Senior School girls division. Both teams boast at least six players who represented Bermuda in the Caribbean Football Union Under-17 Championships.

CedarBridge Academy, the defending champions, will play BHS in their semi-final while league champions, Berkeley Institute, will take on a well organised Saltus team looking for the upset.

The over-16 boys will play their semi-finals at 7pm, with Berkeley Institute, the 2015 league champions, playing Warwick Academy.

CedarBridge Academy and Saltus Grammar School played two very entertaining and close league matches, and an entertaining match is anticipated in their semi-final matchup.

CedarBridge Academy defeated Saltus 4-1 to earn a place in the under-16 final on Saturday.

They will take on Berkeley Green who defeated Berkeley Gold in the semi final on penalties after a thrilling 2-2 draw.
