Hall and Limerick flying high

New start: Lambe is looking to impress in pre-season for Carlisle

Bermuda’s overseas professional players continued to dust off the cobwebs with another round of pre-season friendly matches for their respective clubs.

Reggie Lambe played 62 minutes for Sky Bet League Two side Carlisle United in their 3-1 win away to non-League side Workington Reds, with new signings Shaun Miller, Russell Penn and Joe Mc-Kee on target for the visiting side.

Conor Tinnion levelled for Workington early in the second half.

Milan Butterfield played his first pre-season friendly since joining League One Walsall in a behind-closed-doors game against Championship side Norwich City at St George’s Park.

Norwich, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, won 2-1 with goals from Ryan Bennett and Cameron Jerome. Theo Vassell scored for Walsall.

Meanwhile, Jonté Smith came on in the 62nd minute in Welling United’s 4-1 defeat at home to League One side Charlton Athletic on Friday. Nicky Ajose netted a debut hat-trick for Charlton who took the lead through El-Hadji Ba early on. Stephen Henderson scored for Welling.

Freddy Hall and his Limerick side continued their march to the SSE Aircity League First Division title with a 5-1 win away to Waterford. Limerick are 17 points clear at the top of the table.
