Djair Parfitt-Williams is pondering his next move after parting company with English Premier League side West Ham United.

The 20-year-old Bermudian forward is a free agent after his two-year contract expired at the club last month and was not renewed, according to reports.

Parfitt-Williams signed his first professional contract with West Ham in June of 2015 after a string of impressive performances with the club’s under-18 squad, whom he led in scoring with nine goals.

He was recommended to the East London club by former West Ham striker Clyde Best, who spotted something special in the player, who was then 14, during a training session with Somerset Trojans.

He had been playing for the San Jose Earthquakes Academy when his grandfather Lynn Wade contacted Best, who starred for West Ham between 1968 and 1976, to run the rule over the youngster.

Parfitt-Williams featured twice for the club’s first team against Lusitanos of Andorra in the Europa League qualifiers in 2015 and was also an unused substitute in four Barclays Premier League matches.

He was a member of West Ham’s team that won the Under-21 Premier League Cup after a 5-3 penalty shoot-out victory away to Hull City during the 2015-16 campaign.

West Ham won the first leg of the two-legged final 1-0 at home, with Parfitt-Williams coming off the bench to grab a late winner.

The former PHC youth player finished as the competition’s joint leading goalscorer with five goals along with Hull striker Greg Olley.

Parfitt-Williams was once touted as one of the best under-21 forwards in Britain and is believed to be now exploring his options.

He had been developing his skills at West Ham alongside compatriot and goalkeeper Nathan Trott.

Trott, who is a member of the England Under-19 squad that will meet Portugal in the final of the Under-19 European Championships in Georgia tomorrow, signed an initial 2½-year deal with West Ham in January 2016 which has since been extended until 2020.

Trott, a former BAA player, has had to be content with a place on the England bench during the group stage victories over Bulgaria, Holland and Germany.

Aaron Ramsdale of Bournemouth has been the preferred first-choice goalkeeper of head coach Keith Dowling.
