Morricko Iris scored a hat-trick as BAA moved clear at the top of the First Division with a 5-1 win over St David’s at Goose Gosling Field.

BAA remain two points ahead of Paget, who took over second place, and three ahead of unbeaten Southampton Rangers after Paget beat Devonshire Colts 4-0 and Rangers edged St George’s 1-0 at Wellington Oval.

BAA led 2-0 at half-time when Iris broke the deadlock in the 21st minute and Mical Hartman doubled the lead seven minutes before the break.

Willie Clemons then blasted home from an angle inside the box to make it 3-0 on the hour mark before St David’s pulled one back in the 71st minute when defender Demetri Butterfield netted for St David’s following a free-kick on the left side.

Iris restored BAA’s three-goal lead with his second goal in the 79th minute before completing his hat-trick eight minutes later when he scored from the penalty spot after Clemons had been fouled.

Paget Lions took advantage of St David’s slip-up with an emphatic victory over visiting Colts at Southampton Oval.

Dion Stovell’s sixth-minute strike gave Lions a 1-0 advantage at the break before further tallies from Jensen Rogers, Tahj Wade and Demarlo Curtis in the second half made the points safe.

Southampton Rangers moved from fourth to third after edging St George’s while Somerset Eagles beat Wolves 3-0 at White Hill Field on Saturday to climb from fifth to fourth.

Moving off the bottom were Ireland Rangers, who beat Hamilton Parish 5-2 at Malabar Field for their first win of the season.
