Date set for PHC and Hood clash

PHC, who won the title, Dudley Eve Trophy and Friendship Trophy last season, take on Robin Hood, who finished second and won the FA Cup, in the Charity Cup on Sunday, September 2

PHC Zebras and Robin Hood will renew their rivalry when they kick off the new football season in the Charity Cup on Sunday, September 2

The two teams also met in the Charity Cup last season when Cecoy Robinson’s late goal gave PHC a 1-0 victory.

PHC won the Premier Division last season while Robin Hood finished second.

However, Hood claimed the FA Cup title after beating Southampton Rangers 1-0 in the final, beating PHC on their way to the final. The venue for the Charity Cup has not been confirmed.

Dates of opening matches released by the Bermuda Football Association yesterday will see a Dudley Eve double-header on Labour Day, Monday, September 3, when Somerset Trojans face Devonshire Cougars at 3pm and North Village play Dandy Town at 5pm

The venues are not yet confirmed. PHC are also the defending Dudley Eve Trophy champions, after beating Cougars 3-0 in last year’s final.

The Zebras will begin the defence of that title during the second round of group matches on September 13 when they meet Dandy Town in group A while Robin Hood play Trojans in group B.

North Village are also in group A while Cougars are the third team in group B.

Bermuda will play Aruba in the Concacaf Nations League qualifiers on Sunday, September 9, the same day as the opening round of First Division matches.

Premier Division matches are set for September 16, three days before the final round of Dudley Eve group matches.

The inaugural Gregory Grimes Memorial tournament, organised by the Bermuda Police Service, is scheduled for September 9 at Police Field, honouring the former police sergeant, long-time referee and football executive who died in December 2016.
