PHC and Hood meet again
PHC Zebras and Robin Hood will do battle in the Charity Cup for the second straight year at Bernard Park tomorrow.
Zebras won 1-0 in the previous occasion the island's two most dominant teams locked horns in the traditional season-opener, PHC captain Cecoy Robinson scoring a late winner at Goose Gosling Field.
Both teams shared the domestic titles up for grabs last season, with Zebras adding the Dudley Eve Trophy, Friendship Trophy and Premier Division title to their trophy cabinet.
It was the club's best haul since 1970-71 when they won the Triple Crown of the league, FA Cup and Friendship Trophy and the biggest haul in a single campaign since Devonshire Cougars won the Triple Crown in 2012-13.
Hood, last season's runner's up in the league, claimed the FA Cup last season.
PHC lost six players during the transfer period, the most notable being Casey Castle who has moved to Hood, while striker Idress Sharrieff has opted not to play this season and midfielder Keishon Bean and goalkeeper Quinaceo Hunt are studying overseas.
Marco Warren has been training for PHC this week but remains doubtful.
The midfielder and last season's top-flight MVP injured his ankle while training with Bermuda for their Concacaf Nations League opener against Aruba next month in Curaçao.
Hood, appearing in their third straight Charity Cup match, are without midfielder Chris Caisey, who has rejoined Hamilton Parish.
The Charity Cup was introduced during the 1984-85 season, with Southampton Rangers edging Somerset Trojans 5-4 on penalties at the old PHC Stadium. North Village and Dandy Town have both won the showpiece seven times.
Tomorrow's match at Bernard Park starts at 5:30pm.
Football action continues on Monday with a Dudley Eve Trophy double header at PHC Field.
Somerset Trojans and Devonshire Cougars play a group B tie at 3pm, with North Village facing Dandy Town in a group A match at 5pm.
