Somerset goalkeeper led away in handcuffs
Shaquille Bean, the Somerset Trojans goalkeeper, was led away in handcuffs after a violent outburst at the end of the Dudley Eve Trophy curtain-raiser against Devonshire Cougars at PHC Field yesterday.
Bean, who was dismissed in the 84th minute for making obscene gestures towards supporters behind his goal, returned to the pitch after the game, first approaching referee Antoine Augustus before exchanging angry words with spectators.
Security staff intervened only for Bean to offer resistance, with police in attendance having to assist in escorting him away in handcuffs.
Zari Simmons, the Cougars midfielder, was also sent off for a shove on the Somerset goalkeeper in the 81st minute. Bean had to be restrained by his team-mates as Simmons left the pitch. Somerset won the match 2-0.
