Trott looks to keep it clean for England

Nathan Trott will look to maintain his unblemished record for England Under-20s in their international friendly at home to Switzerland today.

The Bermuda goalkeeper, who plays for West Ham's Under-23s in the Premier League 2, has yet to concede for England Under-20s in four previous appearances and will hope to be included in Paul Simpson's starting line-up for today's match at St George's Park.

Trott made his England Under-20 debut in a 3-0 win away to Holland last September and also kept clean sheets against the Czech Republic, Portugal and Poland.

He was also a member of the England squad that won the 2017 European Under-19 Championship in Georgia.

The former BAA player signed an initial 2½-year deal with West Ham in January 2016, which has since been extended until 2020, and has established himself as the No 1 for the club's Premier League 2 side.

Trott heads into this month's international break on the back of a superb display during West Ham's 2-1 win away to Liverpool in the Premier League 2 last weekend, which drew praise from manager Liam Manning.

“Nathan was outstanding,” Manning told the West Ham website. “Single-handedly, he probably got us the result with the saves that he made, and we know he has that ability to do that, and we know technically and tactically he can do that. But today he showed a real presence and took up great positions, spoke well and he was constantly focused.

His challenge is to not drop below that now. The saves were outstanding but the bonus was all the other things that came with that.”

West Ham led 1-0 at half-time at the Kirkby Academy Training Ground on Merseyside through Reece Oxford's header from a corner before Matty Virtue, the Liverpool captain, who has Bermudian relatives, brought the teams level shortly after the restart. However, the visiting side still managed to secure all of the points and snap a two-game losing streak courtesy of Joe Powell's 73rd-minute winner from a 20-yard free kick.
