Bermuda's Concacaf Nations League qualifier match against Aruba has come at the worst possible time for Cambridge United as Reggie Lambe is starting to settle into the team.

Lambe, who will be wearing the captain's armband for his country in Curaçao, will miss the chance to play against his former team, Carlisle United, today.

Joe Dunne, the Cambridge United manager, admits the Bermuda forward is just starting to prove himself at his new club, having scored his first goal for them in a cup loss in midweek. He gave Cambridge the lead in the 51st minute when he converted a cross.

“Reggie goes away on international duty now, which is disappointing because he got himself a goal tonight and was really good on Saturday,” Dunne told Cambridge News after the 3-1 defeat by Southend United in the Checkatrade Trophy.

“He will miss this Saturday against Carlisle, and hopefully he will be back unscathed. It's another setback for us, really, so we'll have to take a look now at how we rejig the team for Saturday.

“He's had two games now where he's scored in one and had a really good game in the other, so just as we're getting the Reggie Lambe we signed back we're going to lose him. It's a bit of a pain, but we just want him back fit and up for selection against Colchester [on September 15].”

Personal commitments ruled Nahki Wells out of the Bermuda trip. Queens Park Rangers, his loan club, do not have a match this weekend in the Sky Bet Championship because of the international break, but Wells, who previously captained Bermuda, told The Royal Gazette recently that he is committed to playing for his country in the upcoming Nations League fixtures at home to Sint Maarten and El Salvador in October and November.
