Second monthly gong in Estonia for Leverock

Dante Leverock is on a hat-trick of a different sort.

The Narva Trans and Bermuda central defender was named among the Estonia Premier Division Team for the Month for August.

It is the second time that Leverock has earned recognition for his exploits on the pitch since joining professional side Narva Trans in January.

“It's always an honour to be recognised in the league XI,” said Leverock, whose football journey started at childhood club Dandy Town. “It is my second time this season being selected, so that's very positive for me as a new player coming into this league.

“I'm striving to be one of the best players every day.”

The 26-year-old has made a seamless transition at Narva Trans, where he has also been asset in the attacking third of the pitch, with seven goals, including one on his debut — an emphatic 5-0 win away to Kuressaare.

Narva Trans are fourth in the league and will travel to A. Le Coq Arena today to face second-placed Flora for the third time this season.

The rivals played to a goalless draw in the first league encounter of the season in April, with Flora winning the second 4-2 away to Narva Trans a month later.

“We have a busy month with matches every three days, so I'm looking forward to a lot of football to be played before end of season,” Leverock said.

The former Harrisburg City and Ilkeston player is fresh off international duty for Bermuda, who suffered a 3-1 defeat by Aruba in their opening Concacaf Nations League qualifying match in Curaçao on Sunday.

“Aruba [defeat] is still tough to take,” Leverock said. “The early goal put pressure on us and forced more mistakes in the match. As as team, we need to maturely quickly and learn from mistakes.”

Bermuda play host to Sint Maarten at the National Stadium on October 12.

“We will put things right in next game at home,” Leverock said. “We have point to prove and I'm already looking forward to playing for Bermuda at home again.”

Bermuda are also at home against El Salvador on November 16 before finishing their qualifying campaign with an away tie against Dominican Republic on March 24.

Those games will determine the three divisions for the Nations League, which starts in September 2019, as well as the ten remaining Gold Cup spots.
