Leverock backing Bermuda to pull off upset

Danté Leverock says Bermuda are determined to “upset the natural order” and claim a memorable victory against El Salvador tomorrow.

The Bermuda defender said he is looking forward to testing himself against one of the region's top teams, who are ranked 70th in the Fifa rankings, 110 places above Bermuda.

“This is definitely a big match and the type of game every player should want to play in,” Leverock said. “The motivation is there to test yourself at a high level. I'm confident in this group; we know what's at stake and the level we need to play at. We will need to be fully focused from start to finish.

“Our goal to finish as high as possible in the Nations League table. We're aiming to upset the natural order.”

Leverock has urged the island's supporters to become the team's “twelfth man” and pack the National Stadium to the rafters.

“There's nothing like home support,” he said. “This is a major game for Bermuda, so hopefully [the fans] come out, support and enjoy the game. It's always an extra boost playing in front of a big home crowd.”

The 26-year-old believes his game has evolved during his maiden season in Estonia with Narva Trans and is happy to share his knowledge with his Bermuda team-mates.

“It's been a great season for me,” Leverock added. “I've played a lot of football and developed as a player massively, so I'll try to pass on what I've learnt to the boys, as well as learn from them.

“When we play for Bermuda we're a team and are equals, regardless of the level of club football we play. This will be my last game of the year, so I'm looking to end the year on a positive note.”
