Fans full of praise for Wells
What a difference a few goals have made for Nahki Wells's confidence during his loan spell at Sky Bety Championship side Queens Park Rangers.
The fans love him and there is talk of the club trying to sign the Bermuda striker permanently. The 28-year-old scored his fifth goal of the season last weekend, a 60th-minute winner in a 2-1 victory over promotion-seeking Middlesbrough.
The win keeps QPR within reach of the Championship play-offs in thirteenth position. It has not gone unnoticed by the supporters, some of them taking to social media to express their satisfaction with what Wells has brought to the team.
“I want with all my heart for QPR to sign him on a permanent deal come next month,” fan Joe Booty tweeted.
A fan calling himself Superhoop said: “Never say never with Amit [Bhatia, the chairman] in charge. If we want to progress as a club players like Wells need to stay. Simple. Most important, he is enjoying it and open to staying.”
Another fan, James Privett, also praised Wells. “Wells and that winning goal was superb,” Privett tweeted. “He has been superb for us, would love him to stay.”
Brian Doherty wrote: “More and more impressed with Wells every game ... real quality.” Peter Norris said: “Nahki Wells is a fantastic player. Man, we are so lucky to have him. What a guy.”
Wells, on loan from Premier League side Burnley, has made 15 starts and three substitute appearances this season. Burnley are struggling to build on last season's success in the top flight. They are third from bottom with three wins in 17 matches. QPR are away to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
