North Village ended their Premier Division campaign on a high note with a convincing victory over Devonshire Cougars at Devonshire Recreation Club last night.

The visitors prevailed on goals from Jalen Harvey, who scored just before the interval with Justin Bell and Pierre Smith adding to the scoreline in the second half.

“I thought we played well,” Terryn Fray, the Village captain said. “We have been playing well the last couple of matches so this win is deserving for us.

Defender Harvey had the first real chance of the match but saw his header from a corner saved by Cougars goalkeeper Ricardo Brangman.

Cougars had a few good looks at goal during a good spell of possession but were unable to capitalise.

These missed opportunities came back to haunt them as Harvey finally broke the deadlock after exchanging passes with striker Jaizel Smith-DeShields before firing into the bottom right corner.

Cougars started the second half strongly with striker Drewondie Bascome’s free kick from outside the box striking the bar. Midfielder Quadir Maynard also had a shot saved by Village custodian Omari DeShields while Bascome’s clever back-heel was blocked in front of goal.

However, the home side’s fightback was stopped dead in its tracks when Bell doubled the visitors’ advantage against the run of play. The midfielder ran onto Smith-DeShields through-ball in the box and slotted past the advancing Brangman from an angle.

Smith then made the points safe when he created space for himself in heavy traffic inside the box and beat Brangman at the near post.
