Nathan Trott has embarked on a new chapter in his professional football career at one of the most successful clubs in Danish history.

The Bermudian goalkeeper has joined Vejle, leaders in the Danish second tier, on a season’s loan from English Premier League side West Ham United.

A club statement read: “West Ham United can confirm that goalkeeper Nathan Trott has joined Danish First Division leaders Vejle on a season-long loan.

“The 23-year-old, who signed a new contract with the Hammers in the summer, will spend the 2022-23 campaign with the Reds, with the Irons having the option to recall him in January.

“Trott, who made his West Ham debut as a substitute in a 4-0 FA Cup fourth-round win over Doncaster Rovers at London Stadium in January 2021, has previously spent time on loan at EFL League One club AFC Wimbledon and French Ligue 2 side Nancy.

“Everyone at the Club wishes Nathan the best for his loan spell in Denmark.”

Vejle are five-times Danish champions and have also won the Danish Cup on six occasions.

Before the announcement Trott had been linked with a potential move to Cinch Scottish Premiership side St Johnstone, who were also reportedly keen to acquire his services on loan for the season.

Meanwhile, Milan Butterfield has returned for another stint at English non-League side Alfreton Town.

The National League North club announced at the weekend that Butterfield has rejoined them having agreed to the terms of an undisclosed deal.

“Alfreton Town are delighted to announce that midfielder Milan Butterfield has re-signed for the Reds,” the club said in a statement.

“Welcome back, Milan!”

The announcement came on the same day at Alfreton’s 4-0 defeat of Southport at home in the league on Saturday.
