Paget player-coach Antwan Russell led from the front as he fired a hat-trick to help his side to a 5-4 win over First Division leaders Wolves at Southampton Oval on Sunday.

Paget dug deep to come from behind on three occasions to secure the points, with experienced forward Russell leading the charge.

The former PHC Zebras striker was one of two players netting hat-tricks as Jason Davis also achieved the feat in a losing cause for the visitors.

Davis gave Wolves a dream start after putting them ahead in the thirteenth minute. However, their lead was short-lived as Paget hit back almost straight away with two goals in as many minutes from Russell and Koshun Durrant to surge ahead 2-1.

Wolves clawed their way back with Davis grabbing a second to leave the teams deadlocked at the break.

Wolvess regained the lead three minutes into the second half through Omeek Smith before Russell again brought the teams level with his second of the match in the 58th minute.

Paget were again forced to chase the game after Davis completed his treble in the 61st minute to put Wolves ahead 4-3 and they proved up to the task as Russell equalised in the 88th minute to complete his hat-trick before Dion Stovell struck the winner a minute later to finally see off a stubborn Wolves.

Despite losing, Wolves retained top spot the standings on goal difference over second-placed BAA while Paget jumped from sixth to fourth.

BAA moved level on points with Wolves after edging Devonshire Colts 1-0 at Goose Gosling Field on Saturday night with Riley Robinson grabbing the game’s only goal in the fourteenth minute. Colts dropped a place in the league from fifth to sixth.

Young Men’s Social Club battled to an exciting 3-3 stalemate with Southampton Rangers at Police Field on Sunday.

The hosts led 1-0 at the interval through David Jones Jr’s 39th minute strike.

Ralston Wright equalised for the visitors in the 57th minute before Jinairo Johnson put Social Club back in front ten minutes later. Isaiah Taylor struck twice in the 72nd and 77th minutes to put Rangers ahead 3-2 but they were forced to settle for a share of the spoils when substitute Jomeko Mallory came off the bench to rescue a hard-fought point.

Social Club slipped from second to third and Rangers from third to fifth in the standings.

The remaining contest saw Ireland Rangers come away with a 4-2 win over St David’s at Lord’s on Sunday.

Tre Govia gave the visitors the lead in the sixteenth minute and Tahj Wade doubled their advantage in the 20th minute with Jahnai Ratteray adding a third nine minutes later to earn their team a commanding 3-0 lead.

Ari Cannonier pulled one back for St David’s in the 38th minute but Wade grabbed his second in the 61st minute to restore Ireland Rangers three-goal advantage. Substitute Iyuan Smith netted for the hosts in stoppage time.

Ireland Rangers remain eighth and St David’s ninth in the standings. Bottom team Somerset Eagles had a bye.
