Jamori Tyrell netted a hat-trick to catapult St David's Warriors through to the semi-final of the First Division Shield in a 4-0 victory over Devonshire Colts at Lord's on Sunday.

The striker, making his first appearance of the season, opened his account in the seventeenth minute. Tyrell got on the end of Dimitri Butterfield's long diagonal ball over the top of the defence before rounding the goalkeeper and slotting home to double his team’s advantage.

The dust had hardly settled when the 20-year-old struck again two minutes later after shaking off his marker on the edge of the box and firing a right-footed shot into the far top corner.

He then claimed the match ball after completing his treble in the 61st minute. Tyrell intercepted a poor attempted clearance and was left with the easiest of tasks rolling the ball into an empty net after the goalkeeper lost his footing.

Christian Lugo, who was also making his first appearance for the season, capped the hosts emphatic win in the 90th minute after thumping a rebound into the right corner from the top of the box.

Island Rangers also booked their place in the semi-finals, after holding their nerve to overcome Southampton Rangers 5-2 on penalties at Bernard Park.

The teams were deadlocked after 90 minutes of regulation time and a further 30 minutes of extra time precipitating penalty kicks as the deciding factor.

Shaquille Bean, after saving two penalties stepped up to slot home the winning penalty and secure Ireland Rangers a place in the next round.

There was also a comfortable victory for Paget, who clinched progression with a 3-0 success over Somerset Eagles at Wellington Oval.
